Activity Days
An intense ICT Activity Day or Week is an excellent way of
providing high quality and extended ICT experiences for pupils,
using equipment which might not ordinarily be available in school.
Activities can be run with classes, year groups or with selected
pupils from across the school.
PriorITas will bring to the school extra resources which you
might not have, such as digital cameras, micoscopes, scanners
or laptop computers, which will enhance your ICT provision for
the duration. ICT Activities can be tailored to suit your individual
requirements, but the following suggestions are popular:
- Animate IT
Turn pupils into animators ready to produce their own 'Morph'
or 'Wallace and Gromit' type movies. Plasticine, Lego, newspaper
cuttings and more can be brought to life. Planning (storyboarding),
groupwork and ingenuity are all fostered by this exciting activity
with links to English, Art, Design and Technology and ICT.
- Film IT
Using digital video is challenging, enjoyable and richly rewarding.
Pupils taking part in this activity learn how to use appropriate
hardware and software to plan, shoot and edit their own movie.
- Design IT
This activity concentrates on Communicating Information through
pictures and is closely linked to both the Art and the Design
&Technology Programmes of Study. Pupils are taken through
the process of designing and making a printed T-shirt using either
their own work created in a painting program or images captured
by a scanner, digital camera or other means.
- Edit IT
This activity concentrates on the Communicating Information aspect
of ICT and relates well to aspects of the English Programme of
Study. Pupils are responsible for news gathering, editing and
producing a newspaper all in 'real time' as the news comes in
thick and fast!
